Red XIII Red XIII (also known as Nanaki) is thought to be the last of a dying species. A large, lion-like creature covered with fire red fur, Red XIII's species is known for its longevity and intelligence, said to surpass even that of humans. Joining the party after they rescue Aerith from Shinra's laboratory, Red XIII proves to be a very fierce ally.

Cait Sith A talking toy cat that is always seen riding on the back of a stuffed moogle. Cait originally joins the party as an ally before it is revealed that he is really an animatronic puppet and spy controlled by Shinra. However, Cait turns ally once more after his controller has a change of heart. Able to foretell the future, it is Cait that predicts the dark fates of both Cloud and Aerith.
